Pretending There Isn't Any Trouble

“Half the trouble in life is caused by pretending there isn’t any.”

Edith Wharton (The House of Mirth)

A Determined Soul

"There is no chance, no fate, no destiny that can circumvent or hinder or control the firm resolve of a determined soul."

-Marion D. Hanks - (Elder Hanks asked "his" missionaries to memorize this statement when he was their mission president, as reported by Quentin L. Cook in October, 2011 General Conference talk.)

Feelings Are True

Feelings are always true. They may be based on "facts" that are real or imagined, but the feelings about the "facts," whether real or imagined, are true. We can learn to "school our feelings" so they work to our benefit and to the benefit of others.

Little Things

Little drops of water, little grains of sand,
Make the mighty ocean and the pleasant land.

Thus the little minutes, humble though they be,
Make the might ages of eternity.

- Ebenezer Cobham Brewer -

Working Behind the Scenes

You can't work behind the scenes in your own life.

Be Afraid

Be afraid . . . and move forward anyway.

Where You Came From

"If you don't know where you're going, at least you should know where you came from."

- Sue Monk Kidd - (The Invention of Wings)

Relationships Through the Veil

“Relationships can be strengthened through the veil with people we know and love. That is done by our determined effort to continually do what is right.”

Richard G. Scott -

Their First Calling

“Husbands and wives should understand that their first calling—from which they will never be released—is to one another and then to their children.”

Boyd K. Packer -

Climbing Kilimanjaro

“It’s hard to believe that a kid like me made it to a place like this.”
